Steps for Reinstalling the Nut of the Ball Screw Kit
I. Prepare the Hollow Sleeve
Turn a hollow sleeve with the following specifications:
?
?Outer diameter: Slightly smaller than the bottom diameter of the ball screw raceway ?
?Inner diameter: Slightly larger than the outer diameter of the ball screw end ?
?Length: Longer than the length of the ball nut ?
II. Load the Steel Balls
Block one end of the hollow sleeve with a soft material like foam, and insert it into a clean nut without balls.
?
Install clean balls one by one into each circulation groove. After filling one circle, roll the hollow sleeve to confirm smooth operation. Then, push to install the next circle until filled.
?
III. Install the Ball Nut
Remove the filler at the blocked end. Fit the hollow sleeve together with the nut onto the end of the ball screw shaft.
?
Hold the hollow sleeve with one hand and screw the nut with the other hand until the nut is completely screwed into the thread groove of the ball screw and ball nut.
?
IV. Lubrication and Commissioning
Inject grease or oil into the oil injection hole of the nut. Rotate the nut to move for the full stroke more than 2 times to check if the operation is smooth.
?
Inject lubricating grease again to complete the reinstallation.

Advantages of the recirculating ball screw and nut
1. Smooth Motion
The Ball Screw Drive system features point-contact rolling motion, with low friction resistance, high sensitivity, no startup chatter, and no crawling at low speeds. This enables precise control of micro-feeding. ?
2. High Transmission Efficiency
The transmission efficiency of the ball screw system reaches 90%–98%, 2–4 times that of traditional sliding screw systems. It can generate large thrust with minimal torque and allows reversible motion (linear to rotational).
?
3. High Precision
The system exhibits minimal temperature rise during operation. Axial clearance can be eliminated via pre-tightening, and the ball screw kit can be pre-stretched to compensate for thermal elongation, ensuring high positioning and repeat positioning accuracy.
?
4. Good Synchronization
Thanks to smooth motion, sensitive response, and no stagnation or slippage, multiple identical ball screw systems can synchronize the operation of several identical components or devices effectively.
?
5. High Durability
Steel ball contact areas are hardened (HRC 58–63) and precision-ground, with the circulation process purely relying on rolling motion.
?
6. High Reliability
Compared to other transmission mechanisms (e.g., hydraulic drives), linear ball screw systems have a low failure rate. Maintenance is simple, requiring only general lubrication and dust protection; they can even operate without lubrication in special cases.
?
7. No Backlash and High Rigidity
The system uses a Gothic arch groove design for optimal steel ball-groove contact, facilitating smooth operation. Applying appropriate pre-tightening eliminates axial clearance, enhances rigidity, reduces elastic deformation between the ball screw and Lead Screw, and achieves higher precision. ?
